Leadership development in today’s rapidly changing economy requires additional knowledge, accelerated growth, and a defined course for success. It does matter if you are a first time supervisor or an experienced leader, avoiding pitfalls and mistakes is essential for individual and organizational success in the current environment dominated by web sites, blogs, and mass communications. Leadership development is available in different formats based on the needs of you and your company.
The following table identifies a recommended three year development program for organizational leadership in local government. Each course is scheduled quarterly with a month between the initial course and the follow up session. As an example, the initial communications course would be held in January, participants work on assignments the remainder of January and in February. A course recap and review of assignments is completed in February. The topics in the following outline mirror the recommended communications, teamwork, and strat op programs. The difference in the workshop is a deeper focus on application and personal implementation. The following outline can be adjusted to meet your specific industry or business.
